Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon – Welcome To The Future

Playing as a ‘Cyber Commando’ known as Sergeant Rex ‘Power’ Colt in this first stand-alone expansion of Far Cry 3, you must fight off an enemy army known as Omega Force consisting of Cyborgs, blood dragons and mutants after a nuclear war in a setting very reminiscent to that of the 80s.

The expansion itself has nothing to do with the story line from Far Cry 3.

Although it doesn’t do the game any justice, the synopsis from the official website states:

“The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.”

Blood Dragon packs all same the gun-slinging action as the base game and more, but also gives off a feeling you’ve taken LSD at the same time.

A prime example of game designers under the influence of drugs.

The cutscenes have been crafted in a retro-style, a 16-bit style to be precise, paying homage to a long list of movies and games.

At only $17.95 USD on Steam it’s an absolute steal. However, if you’ve enjoyed the open-world roaming of Far Cry 3, you may be sorely disappointed as the environment (in this writer’s opinion) is uninteresting and quite boring with no actual incentive to explore.

A real bummer is the fact that the game is relatively short, and can be completed within a single long sitting. It took nearly 6 hours for us here at Gamer Galaxy to completed it. We can only hope that a sequel of some form is released as we feel there’s more fun to be had.

Overall, despite the very minor negatives, the game is still brilliant and is definitely worth playing.

Is The Elder Scrolls Online just another generic MMO?

Elder Scrolls online is going to be a massively-multiplayer online game which is set in the Elder Scrolls universe, 1,000 years
before the events of Elder Scrolls V; Skyrim.

Although due to be released sometime in 2013, it has had a beta phase since late March, you can sign up here if you wish to
be added to the listed of thousands, if not millions of willing participants.
Early screenshots of the game surfaced early May of 2012, and shows the game to be somewhat similar to that of World Of Warcraft:

However recent screenshots and promotional images released by Bethesda themselves show the game has enough detail to match the¬†likes of Elder Scrolls 4 & 5. Let’s hope this detail stays when the game is released. You can view the official screenshots and promotional images here.

Elder Scrolls Online has been in development for years, and will cover the whole of Tamriel featuring a storyline which will be
connected with the other Elder Scrolls in some form.

Footage from one of the early beta tests show off character creation and the initial quests that the player will encounter.
This video seems like it’s been wiped off the internet, you’ve got to be rather lucky to find a copy as many sites have been asked
to remove it.

According to Nicholas Lovell, founder of game consultancy firm Gamesbrief, he believes that Elder Scrolls Online will be launched¬†with a paid subscription but given time, will drop down to a free-to-play. This hasn’t been confirmed by Bethesda.
